Check AvailabilityYou can walk to the big houses in Epernay. Moët & Chandon and Mercier stand on the same avenue, 500 m from the tourist office, and each sells its own cellar tour. You do not need a tour for them. You need one for the family growers in the villages, so compare the best champagne tours in epernay that pair the two.
These are the houses you can visit on foot or by a short drive. Prices are each house's own, in euros, for one adult on the cheapest guided visit. You book each one with the house, for a set time slot.

The houses keep their cellars cold, at 10 to 12 °C in every season. So take a warm layer down with you, even in July.
Moët & Chandon sits at 18 avenue de Champagne, above 28 km of cellars. Its guided tours run in English or French, from 9:30 to 17:00 every day, and its shop stays open until 18:00. What you pay depends on what is poured:
| What is poured | Length | Glasses | Adult price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moët Impérial and Rosé Impérial | 1 hour 30 | 2 glasses | EUR 48 |
| Moët Impérial and Grand Vintage Blanc | 1 hour 30 | 2 glasses | EUR 65 |
| Grand Vintage Blanc and Grand Vintage Rosé | 1 hour 30 | 2 glasses | EUR 85 |
| The longer cellar tours with older vintages | 2 hours | 2 or 3 | EUR 190, EUR 220 or EUR 460 |
| The vineyard experience | 2 hours 30 | 2 Grand Vintages | EUR 235 |
| Habits de Lumière dinner | 4 hours 15 | With a dinner | EUR 520 |
The shortest tour takes you through the cellars, then pours Moët Impérial and Rosé Impérial. Want a vintage in the glass? Then pick the EUR 65 or the EUR 85 visit.
The house puts its front door a five-minute walk from Epernay station. Paris Gare de l'Est is 80 minutes away by direct train, so you can do the visit as a day from Paris without a car.

Mercier is at the far end of the avenue, at number 68. Its 18 km of cellars lie 30 m down, and you ride through them on a driverless train. The train is in every tour, so you choose by the glasses:
Five more houses line the same 1.5 km. The tourist office lists each one and what you see there. Only de Castellane prints its prices where we could read them.
The tower is 66 m high, 8 floors and 237 steps, with a view over Epernay and the vineyards. The guided tower tour costs EUR 20 with a glass of Brut Croix Rouge, or EUR 30 with two glasses. The heritage tour, EUR 60 for 1 hour 30 and six people, opens the label room and its 7,000 drawers.
Six generations of the Boizel family have run the house since 1834. The tour shows the casks and tuns, the stainless-steel vats and the old cellars, and the house runs tasting workshops. Book it on the house's site.
Esterlin is the only cooperative on the avenue. Its growers founded it in Mancy in 1948. It skips the malolactic fermentation, ages its brut for at least six years and adds reserve wine from a solera begun in 1972.
de Venoge pours in its old stables, now a bar and shop at no. 33, on the terrace or inside. Perrier-Jouët pours at the Cellier Belle Epoque, no. 26, and serves lunches and dinners at the Maison Belle Epoque opposite, Tuesday to Saturday, by booking.
Nicolas Feuillatte is out of town, in Chouilly on the Côte des Blancs. Its cellar tours cost EUR 20 with one glass, EUR 25 with two and EUR 30 with three, for about 75 minutes. It opens every day, 9:30 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 17:30, and you must book. The house runs shuttle packages from Epernay station.
A house and a grower make the same wine by the same rules. What changes is where the grapes come from and who pours for you.
Champagne counts 16,460 growers, 410 houses and 120 cooperatives. In 2025 the houses shipped 191.9 million of the 266.1 million bottles sold. The growers and cooperatives shipped 74.2 million. So most bottles you know carry a house's name.
At a house, a guide leads a group through the cellars and pours at the end. On a grower tour, you taste in a family's own cellar, in their village. The catch is getting there. The growers sit in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Cramant and Oger, and no bus reaches their cellars.
The houses are a walk. The growers need a driver, and a tour puts both in one day with the tastings in the fare.
A tour's fare already covers its tastings, so you never buy a house ticket yourself. What differs is who pours:
Weighing a house against a grower? The guide a grower, a house or a vineyard ride sets them side by side. The tour fares in full are on Epernay champagne tour prices.
Prices, lengths and calendars come from each house's own visit page, read for 2026. The avenue's houses are listed by the Epernay tourist office, and the grower and house figures are the Comité Champagne's, on champagne.fr.
